Often you find copyrighted material just renamed, porn, and sometimes very benign or even funny stuff. So what's the motivation behind it? As I couldn't ask anybody, I just tried it myself. And I know I shouldn't say this publicly, but it was (and still is) quite amusing.
With my small 0.5 Mbit/s uplink I'm right now shooting 20 times as much digital garbage per second around the globe from Iran to Iceland to the US to Singapore, and beyond. Trend still rising. I'm stunned how easy it is tp make people across the globe send garbage to each other at these blazing speeds. And that by just by raising their hope of getting something very hot for free.
So what's going on and what made those people do this? Read up! More details soon...

Wow, and no ones commented on here yet. I have heard of companies putting out fake "items" to see how "hot" their product is. I don't think this one reached more than a 100 leachers where as let say a movie by axxo (a very popular movie seeder) hit's 700 in a day. Well done from a sociality point of view, although some shit brain did the same last week but maliciously.

I don't think you're an asshole, it was a control and interesting experiment. Happily most people on the planet don't rip shit off. The animosity that arose throughout the PirateBay comments goes to show the the general mentality of the pirating community. Which is low brow and insatiable. It's as if the pirates have convinced themselves they have every right to rip shit off, to steal. Where in fact they are only hiding behind the anonymity of the world wide web. No doubt if they were publicly pointed out, identified, their views and behavior would be quite different. Makes you wonder who your neighbors really are!
An excellent point. I think you missed the main issue though, Nobody likes a lying sneaky bastard who tests his friends. It would be like leaving some money lying on the floor only to chastise someone for picking it up. Maybe we should all be careful what we test each other for. It might end up biting you in the ass.
I'm not his friend, I have no idea who this is, nor do I want to know. Experiments along these lines have been conducted for years testing mankind, hell the whole torrent thing could be one gigantic experiment to see how much people do steal or to see if giving products away (via anonymous download) effects profits. I say bravo.

Depending on your client incomplete files are always filled with zeroes. That's the parts you are still missing. Check the parts that you have already downloaded.

I went offline for a couple of minutes to update my client. Someone was sending me huge amounts of invalid packets which caused null pointer exceptions in my old Azureus.
I updated to the most recent version and now everything is fine again.

What speaks for this being real is, that Apple incudes lost of debugging-code in the betas and pre-relaese versions, wich is removed when building the Gold Master. So until prooven otherwise I belive this is real.

2. Why is there no Readme.txt or anything, you know, a we know about this bug blah blah, and if there is not one, can you extract one out of the image. Can you mount the image and upload screenshots.

Here is a quick tip for all of you that are not aware how torrents work:
As long as the seeder has not uploaded the complete file, no one will have really fast DL speeds.
If the torrent has reached say 30% and you have reached 30% then you will have a very small DL speed. Its the way it works, be patient.

All I can say is, I'm connected to Asia via a VPN right now. The DSL account in Germany used for seeding is not mine and I cannot be connected to it.

Hey folks.
Just a word to the wise, once you've fully downloaded this file. There is more than one option in regards to installing Leopard. Here's mine.
To install this:
1. Find yourself an external hard drive.
2. Use Disk utility to format and partition that drive. (GOTTA BE GUID)
3. Create two partitions. One for the install (i always give it more room than i have to - 10 gigs.) The other partition is the rest of your drive, if you plan on installing on said drive.
4. Now, restore the install image onto the install partition.
5. Install.
Best regards, and don't forget, it's better to give than to receive.
PS - if you're still scratching your head on install methods, pull up the comments on the older leopard builds. Lot's of good advice.

The seeder can only connect to so many peers. Seeing the seeder said himself he can only upload at 55k/s, it would make sense that 90% of peers on this torrent wouldn't be able to connect to him. Do some reading up on the bitorrent protocol. :)

I see. I've been downloading torrents for about 5 years now. Never fully understood how it work. Never really cared in some respects. I simply download a file and seed it double after it completes. Simple as that.

1. How do you get to seed on a ADSL account in Germany if its not yous
2. If the guy really wanted to drop the Boss in the shit, would he not name the company
3. How did his boss get the Image files, does it not come on a DVD, how does it end up arriving as an image ?
4. Is there no copy protection/serial Numbers for Mac software once you have installed it ?
5. How do you manage to steal an Image file from your boss, and luckily have a friend who can secretly upload it on PB, but has not uploaded anything else ?
The list goes on, Im not a big fan of conspiracy theory's, but this one is up there with WMDs...
